The world of mattresses can be a little perplexing, or even frustrating. Simply laying on a mattress for a few minutes won‘t necessarily tell you if it will be comfortable to sleep in for an entire night. It‘s hard to get an accurate feeling for one mattress, let alone the hundreds of others that are on the market, each of which makes wild claims as to what it can help you achieve. When you get down to it, it‘s pretty obvious that the only thing a good mattress should do is help you get a good night‘s sleep.
Not only is it functional, but futons are also much more comfortable than other options for makeshift beds. They are a little bit more expensive than air mattresses, but as anyone can tell you that has slept on one, air mattresses are not very comfortable, nor are they a long-term solution. With a futon, you‘ll have a comfortable place to sleep, whether it‘s for one night or for several months. If you opt for a higher quality futon mattress, you can even use it as your permanent bed without getting any worse sleep than you would with a traditional mattress. Finally, futons are extremely affordable. They cost about the same as a low-cost couch and much less than most beds. This makes them great for people on a budget, like college students, and if you opt for a used futon, you can even pick up some great deals on futons with quality mattresses.
More often than not, the futon is a functional, low-budget addition to the family room. Because of its multi-functional role it also serves to consolidate space. Space savings like this are necessary for smaller apartments and houses that are looking to optimize their space. Although this is a modern understanding of the utility of the futon, the futon has become synonymous in some production lines with the mattress, utterly negating its history.
Futons are fast becoming one of the most sought after pieces of furniture for many homes these days. Gone are the days where futons are considered to be the "Jeeps" of home furnishings. Nowadays, with updated, modern styling, and health and sleep benefits that they provide, futons are fast becoming the "Mercedes-Benz" for the living room or bedroom. In a fast-paced, busy world, we‘re seeing a need to simplify our lives through convenience. More people are dining at fast-food chains (where even salads and fruits can be purchased for the health-conscious), shoes have incorporated wheels on the soles for riding around, and almost any products you can think can be purchased online at the comfort of your own home. With that said, people have found a way to make everyday living at their own homes more convenient; by replacing their conventional couches (and in some cases, their beds) with a futon.
