This has led to the emergence of alternative materials like metal and plastic for furniture manufacture. Wood, however, has managed to retain its position among furniture enthusiasts. The expensiveness of fresh wood has led to the use of recycled wood in furniture. Here, wood is sourced from old buildings that are being torn down. Sometimes, old furniture is spruce up, painted and given a new updated look. This has also resulted in refurbished wooden furniture finding dedicated connoisseurs in the market.
Beside mahogany and mango, Indian rosewood is also used in the manufacture of dark furniture. In fact, furniture designers these days, are carving out more modern designs that sport straight edges and humble artwork. Many of these new designs are able to create a unique look inside a room, ideal for those who don‘t intend to follow the crowd. Before buying any piece of dark furniture, always inquire how much of the product is manufactured from solid wood, particularly in the case of mango and mahogany pieces. Sometimes, solid wood is mixed with veneer to keep the prices down. If the price of the furniture seems to be unbelievably cheap, then that may not be pure dark furniture.
